Gallaudet University Academic Technology invites Academic Affairs departments to apply for a video grant to stimulate and support the University’s new mission statement.

Mission Statement:

Gallaudet University, federally chartered in 1864, is a bilingual, diverse, multicultural institution of higher education that ensures the intellectual and professional advancement of deaf and hard of hearing individuals through American Sign Language and English. Gallaudet maintains a proud tradition of research and scholarly activity and prepares its graduates for career opportunities in a highly competitive, technological, and rapidly changing world.

The Academic Technology Video Grant has been established to encourage and support significant creative and innovative web-based videos that demonstrate research and scholarship in an accessible bilingual educational environment. During Fiscal Year 2008, grants will be awarded to successful applicants to initiate this undertaking.

This award is to provide services to Academic Affairs departments by Academic Technology to create, develop, produce, edit, and/or caption a web-based video. All of the resources and facilities within Academic Technology may be utilized. A few suggested videos for grant proposals include signing web-based text, documenting academic field trips, promoting faculty research, and visiting student internship sites. The vision for the web-based videos is limited only to imagination and support of Gallaudet University’s mission statement.

Academic Technology professionals will review the applications and award the grants, and proposals that include student recruitment goals or benefit several academic departments will take precedence. There is a limit of two proposals per academic department and all videos become the property of Gallaudet University.
